When creating or modifying a table in Zoho Analytics, each column must be assigned a data type. The data type controls what values are accepted, how data is displayed, and which report types can use the column. This reference lists all supported column types and their intended uses.

Text Data Types

• Plain Text - Stores a single line of text up to 100 characters. Suitable for names, labels, and short descriptions.
• Multi Line Text - Stores longer text values exceeding 100 characters, such as notes or comments.
• E-mail - Validates and stores email addresses in the correct format.
• URL - Stores a clickable hyperlink or web address, rendered as a live link in table and report views.

Numeric Data Types

• Auto Number - Automatically generates a unique, incrementally increasing integer value for each new row. Useful for record IDs.
• Number - Accepts any positive or negative whole number.
• Positive Number - Accepts only positive integers. Suitable for quantities, counts, and ages.
• Decimal Number - Stores positive or negative decimal values, for example measurements or calculated ratios.
• Currency - Manages monetary values across different country denominations, with built-in formatting support.
• Percentage - Stores values intended to represent percentages, displayed with the appropriate formatting.

Date and Time Data Types

• Date - Stores date and time values. Enables time-based analysis such as trends, grouping by month or quarter, and date-range filtering.
• Duration - Stores time duration values, for example the length of a support call or a task's elapsed time.

Geographic Data Types

Geographic types power geo-map reports and location-based analysis. The following types are supported:

• Continent
• Country
• State / Province
• County
• District
• City
• Zip Code
• Airport (IATA code)
• Latitude
• Longitude

Other Data Types

• Decision Box - Stores binary values such as Yes/No, True/False, or On/Off. Displayed as a checkbox in the table view.
• Looked Up Column - References a column from another table to establish relational data connections. Values are drawn from the linked table at query time.
