Connecting Zoho Backstage to Zoho Analytics

The Zoho Backstage integration with Zoho Analytics brings your event data into a dedicated analytics environment, enabling you to track attendee behaviour, assess event performance, and make better-informed decisions when planning future events.

Setup Requirements

Only users with administrator privileges — specifically Account Admins and Org Admins — can configure this integration. The initial data import may take several minutes depending on the volume of event data in your Backstage account. You will receive both an email and an in-app notification once the first import is complete. If the setup fails, you can retry from the Data Sources tab or contact support@zohoanalytics.com for assistance.

Data Modules Synchronised

Eight core modules are transferred from Zoho Backstage into Zoho Analytics:

  • Attendees — email address, registration status, names, attendee ID, company, and designation
  • Events — event ID, name, type, dates, timezone, status, category, and creation/modification timestamps
  • Orders — order ID, status, payment information, event ID, purchaser details, billing address, totals, taxes, and discounts
  • Speakers — speaker ID, email, name, status, event ID, company, designation, and skills
  • Sponsors — sponsor ID, event ID, sponsorship type, company name, amount, and modification tracking
  • Ticket Classes — class ID, name, type, event ID, quantity, pricing, availability window, and status
  • Tickets — ticket ID, event and order IDs, ticket name, purchaser information, and promo codes used
  • Users — user ID, email, names, role, status, company, and designation

Synchronisation Frequency

You can schedule automatic data refreshes at the following intervals: every hour (Enterprise plan only), every 3, 6, or 12 hours, or once daily. All options are available on Standard plans and above, with the exception of the hourly option which is exclusive to Enterprise accounts.

Managing the Integration

From the Data Sources section in your workspace, you can update module and field selections, adjust the sync schedule, re-authenticate when your Backstage credentials change, and view sync history for the past 45 days. Audit logs are retained for 180 days. You also have the option to remove the connector entirely, though this does not delete the data tables already created in Zoho Analytics.

Sync Failure Causes and Resolution

Note: Synchronisation may pause if field data types change in Zoho Backstage, if selected modules or fields are deleted, or if the connector's access permissions are revoked. To resume, adjust any affected views or restore deleted items in Backstage, then use the Sync Now option in Zoho Analytics.

Visualisation and Analysis Options

Zoho Analytics supports a wide range of chart types for event data, including bar charts, area charts, line and bar combinations, bubble charts, maps, pie charts, tree maps, sankey diagrams, sunburst charts, race charts, doughnut charts, pivot tables, and KPI widgets. Query tables allow you to combine Backstage data with information from other connected sources, with automatic column-matching suggestions to simplify cross-functional analysis.

Sharing and Collaboration

Reports and dashboards can be shared with colleagues using fine-grained permission controls. Team members can leave comments on shared views, and reports can be embedded into websites or applications. Export, email, and print options are all available, and the Zoho Analytics mobile app provides access to your event dashboards on iOS and Android devices.
