Geo maps in Zoho Analytics allow you to visualise data geographically, plotting values across countries, regions, cities, and custom coordinates. They are particularly useful for sales territory analysis, regional performance comparisons, and location-based operational reporting.

Supported Location Data Types

Zoho Analytics automatically identifies geographic data during import and assigns a Geo data type to appropriate columns. Supported location types include:

• Continents, countries, counties, states, and provinces
• Cities and towns
• Postal codes and ZIP codes
• IATA airport codes
• Latitude and longitude values (decimal degrees or DMS format)
• Spatial geometry columns (Point, Polygon, Multi-Polygon)

Available Map Chart Types

• Map Scatter: Plots individual data points as dots at their geographic location. Useful for showing distribution of events or customers.
• Map Bubble: Displays proportionally sized circles at each location. The bubble size represents the magnitude of a numeric metric.
• Map Pie: Shows a pie chart at each location, breaking down a metric across multiple categories geographically.
• Map Bubble Pie: Combines bubble sizing with an inner pie breakdown for multi-dimensional geographic analysis.
• Map Filled (Choropleth): Shades regions (countries, states, counties) using a colour gradient based on a numeric value. Best for regional comparisons.
• Geo Heat Map: Uses a density-based colour overlay to show concentration of data points across the map.

Creating a Geo Map

1. Open your workspace and click New, then select Chart.
2. Choose the table containing your geographic data.
3. Drag the geo-typed column (marked with a globe icon) to the X Axis shelf.
4. Drag a numeric metric to the appropriate data shelf (Y Axis or Size).
5. In the chart type selector, choose one of the map chart types listed above.
6. Configure map theme, zoom level, data labels, and colour ranges as required.
7. Save the chart with a descriptive name.

Map Customisation Options

• Themes: Choose from Light, Dark, Blue, Custom, or Satellite map backgrounds.
• Zoom and navigation: Use built-in zoom controls, grab-to-zoom area selection, and home positioning.
• Data labels: Display location names or metric values directly on the map.
• Opacity and marker styles: Adjust transparency and point appearance for scatter and bubble maps.
• Colour ranges: Define continuous or stepped colour scales for filled and heat maps.

Spatial Data Files

Zoho Analytics also supports spatial data files containing geometry columns. When importing a spatial file, the geometry column must be present. The maximum file size for spatial data is 15 MB. Geometry columns cannot be deleted, used in formula columns, or linked via lookup relationships.
