The Summary View in Zoho Analytics is a report type that presents your data in a grouped, tabular format with aggregations and subtotals. It is particularly useful for analysing large datasets where you want to see summarised figures organised by one or more categories, without the cross-tabulation complexity of a pivot table.

When to Use a Summary View

A Summary View works well when you need to:

• Group records by one or more dimensions and calculate totals for each group.
• Display a structured table with subtotals per group and a grand total at the bottom.
• Combine aggregated summary data with conditional visual formatting to highlight key figures.
• Provide a clean tabular export that is easy to share with stakeholders.

Creating a Summary View

1. Open your workspace and click New, then select Summary View.
2. Choose the source table or linked tables for your report.
3. Drag dimension columns to the Group By section to define your grouping levels.
4. Drag numeric columns to the columns area and select an aggregation function (SUM, AVG, COUNT, etc.).
5. Configure display options, subtotals, and grand totals as required.
6. Apply filters and sorting to refine the output.
7. Click Save and assign a name to the report.

Customisation Options

• Grouping levels: Apply multiple levels of grouping to create a hierarchical breakdown (for example, by Region, then by Product Category).
• Aggregation functions: Choose from SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, COUNT, and DISTINCT COUNT for each numeric column.
• Sorting: Sort by any column in ascending or descending order.
• Filters: Restrict data using column-level conditions.
• User filters: Add interactive controls so viewers can filter the summary themselves when viewing the report or dashboard.
• Conditional formatting: Apply colour rules to highlight rows or cells based on numeric thresholds.
