When to Use a Tabular View

A Tabular View is a good choice when you need to:

• Display individual records rather than aggregated totals.
• Provide a structured list that viewers can filter interactively.
• Group data by one or more columns whilst retaining row-level detail.
• Create a clean, exportable data extract for use in spreadsheet tools.

Core Components

A Tabular View consists of three main structural areas:

• Columns: The data fields displayed as table columns, selected from your source table.
• Group By section: The area where you define which columns to use for grouping rows.
• Group By block: The visual grouping structure that organises rows into collapsible sections based on the chosen dimensions.

Creating a Tabular View

1. Open your workspace and click New, then select Tabular View.
2. Choose the source table or linked tables for your report.
3. Drag the columns you want to display to the columns area.
4. Optionally, drag one or more dimension columns to the Group By section to group rows.
5. Apply filters and sorting as required.
6. Add user filters to give viewers interactive control over the displayed data.
7. Click Save and assign a name to the report.

Customisation Options

• Column ordering: Rearrange displayed columns by dragging them in the designer.
• Sorting: Set a default sort order by column, ascending or descending.
• Filters: Apply fixed conditions to restrict which rows are shown.
• User filters: Provide interactive dropdowns, date pickers, or free-text inputs so dashboard viewers can filter the table themselves.
