The issue
After adding SPF, DKIM, or MX records for Zoho Mail with your domain registrar, the status in Zoho still shows as "Unverified" or "Pending", even though the records were entered correctly.
The workaround
DNS changes don't take effect everywhere at once. External DNS hosting providers, such as GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or Namecheap, can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24 to 48 hours to propagate a change fully across the internet. Until that propagation finishes, Zoho may simply not yet be able to see the new records, even though they've been saved correctly at the registrar.
How to check whether records have propagated
- Use an external DNS lookup tool such as MXToolbox to check the record directly, rather than relying on Zoho's status alone.
- Search for the specific record type, SPF, DKIM, or MX, using your domain name.
- If the tool shows the record as present and correct, propagation has completed on at least some DNS servers, and it's simply a matter of waiting for Zoho to re-check.
- If the tool doesn't find the record at all, double-check the exact values entered at the registrar, since a typo there is a more likely explanation than propagation delay.
Note: It's worth waiting the full 24 to 48 hours before contacting support about an "Unverified" status, since in the large majority of cases the records are correct and simply haven't finished propagating yet.
