How to Download a HAR File for Zoho Desk Troubleshooting

Downloading a HAR file

When something goes wrong in the browser while working in Zoho Desk, developers and support representatives often turn to an HTTP Archive, or HAR, file to work out what happened. This article covers how to generate and download one so it can be handed to the support team for further analysis.

What a HAR file captures

A HAR file records detailed information about the communication that takes place between the browser and the server. This makes it useful for diagnosing page load failures, application errors, authentication problems, API failures and performance bottlenecks. Analysing a HAR file gives the support team much deeper insight into network activity and browser-server interactions, which speeds up troubleshooting considerably.

Note: HAR files can contain sensitive information. Only generate and share one when the support team specifically asks for it.

How to download a HAR file

  1. Open the relevant page. Go to the page in Zoho Desk where the issue occurs.
  2. Open Inspect. Right-click on the page and select Inspect.
  3. Switch to Network. Click the Network tab in Developer Tools.
  4. Preserve and clear the log. Tick Preserve Log, then click the clear logs icon to start with a clean slate.
  5. Reproduce the issue. Carry out the action that triggers the error.
  6. Export and save. Click Export HAR file and save it locally.
