A new permission controls what a Zia Agent can do with Zoho CRM data on behalf of a given user: API Access for Zia Agents, found under Developer Permissions in Zoho CRM.
A Zia Agent acting on a user's behalf, whether answering a conversational query or carrying out a multi-step task, needs some level of CRM access to do its job. Until now, that access was tied to whatever the user's general CRM permissions already allowed. This permission adds a dedicated layer specifically for agent access, so an admin can grant an agent narrower access than the user's own profile carries.
A sales rep who asks a Zia Agent for insight, such as today's sales total or the number of open leads, only needs Get Data enabled for that agent-user combination. If the rep also wants the agent to act on their behalf, for example updating a deal's sale value when asked, Execute Actions needs to be switched on separately. This matters most for agents built to take multi-step action rather than simply answer questions, since without Execute Actions, an agent's attempt to write data is blocked regardless of how it was instructed or what tools it has been given.
On the relevant profile in Zoho CRM, under Developer Permissions, look for API Access for Zia Agents and set Get Data and Execute Actions as needed for that profile.
