Google Meet Now Available as a Meeting Provider in Zoho CRM

Google Meet Is Now Available as a Meeting Provider in Zoho CRM

Following requests from a number of our partners and customers, Google Meet is now available as an online meeting provider in Zoho CRM. It sits alongside the other meeting providers you may already have enabled, so your team can run meetings from whichever tool they already work in day to day.

Enabling Google Meet

A user with an admin profile can turn this on from within the Meetings module itself, with no need to visit the Marketplace separately:

  1. Open Preferences. Go to the Meetings module and click the Preferences tab.
  2. Add a provider. Click Add Provider.
  3. Choose Google Meet. Select Google Meet from the Online Meeting Marketplace.
  4. Enable it. Click Enable.

Once enabled, anyone who sets the meeting venue to Online and picks Google Meet as the provider will be asked to authorise their Google account. After a quick sign-in, they can schedule and run Google Meet calls without leaving Zoho CRM.

Where this helps day to day

Picture a sales rep booking a product demo with a prospect directly from the lead record. They set the venue to Online, choose Google Meet, and the meeting link goes out with the invitation automatically. The rep never has to leave Zoho CRM, and because the meeting is tied to the record, all of the follow-ups, notes, and next steps stay in one place.

A note for Google Workspace organisations

If your users are managed under Google Workspace, a Google administrator will first need to grant Zoho CRM access to Google Meet from the Google Admin Console. Until this one-time approval is done, users will see an authorisation error when they try to create a Google Meet meeting. This is Google enforcing an admin policy rather than a fault in Zoho CRM, and it does not mean anything is wrong with the individual user's account.

Steps for a Google Workspace administrator:
  1. Sign in to the Google Admin Console at admin.google.com with an administrator account.
  2. Go to Apps, then Google Workspace Marketplace Apps, then Apps List.
  3. If Zoho CRM is not already listed, click Install App, search for Zoho CRM, and add it for your organisation.
  4. If it is already listed, select Zoho CRM from the apps list.
  5. Review the OAuth scope described as "Credit, edit and see information about your Google Meet conferences created by the app", which will show as Not Granted.
  6. Click Grant Access to allow users to create and manage meetings from Zoho CRM.
  7. Once granted, the scope will change to Granted, and users will be able to create Google Meet meetings directly from Zoho CRM.
Note: Access to Google Meet is managed entirely by your Google Workspace administrator rather than within Zoho CRM. If a user still sees an authorisation error after access has been granted, ask them to sign out of Zoho CRM and sign back in so the new permission is picked up. Newly authorised apps can also take 24 to 48 hours to appear correctly in the Admin Console, so it is worth allowing a little time for the change to take effect across your organisation. For full details, see Zoho's own article on granting Google Admin access for Google Meet meetings.
