Creating a New Workspace in Zoho Analytics

How to Create a New Workspace in Zoho Analytics

A workspace in Zoho Analytics is the central environment where you organise your data into tables and build reports, charts, and dashboards. This guide explains how to create a workspace using each of the available methods.

Who Can Create Workspaces?

Only Account Administrators and Organisation Administrators can create workspaces and carry out workspace-level operations. Standard users can access workspaces that have been shared with them but cannot create new ones.

Workspace Creation Methods

Zoho Analytics provides several pathways to create a workspace, depending on where your data lives:

  • Blank Workspace - Start with an empty workspace and add data manually later.
  • Files and Feeds - Import from CSV, Excel, XML, JSON, or HTML files, or from a web feed URL.
  • Cloud Storage - Connect to Zoho Docs, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, or OneDrive.
  • Local Databases - Use the Zoho Databridge upload tool for MS Access, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other local databases.
  • Cloud Databases - Import directly from Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, or SQL Azure.
  • Business Applications - Integrate with Salesforce, Google Analytics, Zoho CRM, and many other SaaS platforms.
  • Templates - Use a pre-built template, optionally populated with sample data, to get started quickly.

Creating a Blank Workspace

  1. Navigate to the Home page. Log in to Zoho Analytics and select Import Your Data from the home screen.
  2. Select your organisation. If you belong to multiple organisations, choose the correct one and click OK.
  3. Choose Blank Workspace. On the Import Data page, click Blank Workspace.
  4. Name the workspace. Enter a unique workspace name. A description is optional but useful for teams.
  5. Click Create. Your workspace is ready for tables and reports to be added.

Creating a Template-Based Workspace

  1. Go to Import Data. From the home page, click Import Your Data.
  2. Select Template. Click Template from the available data source options.
  3. Enter a workspace name. Provide a unique name for the workspace.
  4. Choose a template. Browse the available templates. Options include Google Ads analysis, project management, and issue tracking.
  5. Optional: load sample data. Toggle Populate with Sample Data to pre-fill the workspace with illustrative data.
  6. Click Create. The workspace will be created with the template's pre-built tables, reports, and dashboards.

Creating a Workspace by Importing Data

When you import data from a file, cloud source, or business application, Zoho Analytics automatically creates a workspace as part of the import process. Follow the on-screen prompts for your chosen data source; the workspace is created once the import completes successfully.

Note: Workspace names must be unique within your organisation. You can update the name and description later from the workspace settings.
