Domain Mapping lets your customers and agents access your Zoho Desk portal from your own domain, for example support.yourcompany.com, instead of the default Zoho Desk subdomain.
Genuinely good news since this was first documented: You no longer need to purchase your own SSL certificate. Once you've correctly configured and verified your CNAME record, Zoho now automatically provisions and installs the SSL certificate for your mapped domain, at no extra cost and without needing a third party.
Setting Up Domain Mapping
- Create a subdomain (such as support.yourcompany.com) in your domain registrar's control panel, following your host's own instructions for adding a subdomain.
- Add a CNAME record for that subdomain, pointing it to desk.cs.zohohost.com.
- In Zoho Desk, go to Setup, then Rebranding, then Domain Mapping, and enter your subdomain.
- Verify the mapping. SSL certificate installation begins automatically once verification succeeds.
Requires Support Administrator permission. Only users with this profile can access and configure Domain Mapping.
Important Limitations
- Wildcard or other third-party SSL certificates cannot be installed on your mapped domain; you must use the certificate Zoho automatically provisions.
- Enable third-party cookies in your browser, particularly on Safari, for a trouble-free experience once your domain is mapped.
If Verification Fails
If you're behind a proxy or CDN service such as Cloudflare, make sure the CNAME record itself resolves directly to desk.cs.zohohost.com rather than being proxied, since a proxied record can prevent Zoho Desk from recognising the mapping correctly. Also allow time for DNS propagation, which can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24 hours, before assuming the setup has failed.
