How to Verify SPF and DKIM Are Set Up Correctly in Zoho Campaigns

How to Verify SPF and DKIM Have Been Set Up Correctly

Once you've published SPF and DKIM records for your Zoho Campaigns sender domain, you'll want to confirm they're actually verified and working correctly before relying on them.

Verifying inside Zoho Campaigns

  1. Open Domain Authentication. Go to Settings, then Domain Authentication.
  2. Find your domain and verify. Click Setup next to your domain, then Verify Domain.
  3. Check the result. If verification fails, Zoho Campaigns shows you the reason and how to fix it directly on the same screen, rather than leaving you to guess.
Important: Zoho Campaigns is a subdomain-capable sending source, meaning SPF should be configured at the subdomain level, not your root domain. You generally don't need to publish Zoho's provided SPF include record directly if you're using Custom Return Path correctly, since that's what actually governs SPF alignment for Zoho Campaigns-sent mail. Check the Custom Return Path setup under Settings for the precise current steps for your account.

If verification keeps failing

  • Give DNS time to propagate. Changes can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 48 hours to fully propagate, so a failed check shortly after publishing isn't necessarily wrong.
  • Check for duplicate SPF records. A domain can only have one SPF TXT record starting with v=spf1. Two separate SPF records is one of the most common causes of persistent failure, and breaks SPF entirely rather than just for Zoho.
  • Use an independent checker. Tools such as MXToolbox can confirm whether your SPF and DKIM records are visible and correctly formatted from outside Zoho's own system, which helps distinguish a genuine DNS problem from a delay in Zoho re-checking.
