How to Verify the Custom Domain Added in LandingPage

Verifying a custom domain added to a Zoho LandingPage generally follows a standard DNS verification flow, but Cloudflare-hosted domains have a specific, well-documented gotcha worth knowing before you start troubleshooting blindly.

The Standard Verification Process

  1. In the Custom Domain Configuration screen, enter your full domain (yourdomainname.com), without any subdomain, and click Continue.
  2. Enter your chosen subdomain, such as www, store, or sales.
  3. Complete the DNS settings as instructed, adding a CNAME record pointing to zhs.zoholandingpage.com.
  4. DNS verification can take up to 24-48 hours depending on your domain registrar. Click View Verification Status to check progress.
  5. Once verified, you can optionally get a free SSL certificate for your domain, powered by Let's Encrypt. This is strongly recommended for your landing page's security and credibility, and can take up to an hour to reflect once requested.

Troubleshooting: Cloudflare Hosting

Zoho's own guidance: If you're having trouble verifying your domain on LandingPage with Cloudflare hosting, check whether the proxy is enabled, which is usually Cloudflare's default setting. To troubleshoot, try verifying the domain again after temporarily disabling the proxy. If issues persist after that, contact support@zoholandingpage.com directly.

This happens because Cloudflare's proxy (the orange cloud icon) masks your actual DNS records for security reasons, so Zoho's servers can't see the verification CNAME correctly while the proxy is active. Once verification succeeds with the proxy disabled, it's generally safe to re-enable the proxy afterwards for its usual protection.

Another Common Cause of Verification Failure: Permissions

If verification fails with a 404 error rather than a Cloudflare-specific issue, check two things first: only the Portal Owner is authorised to add and verify a domain in LandingPage, so confirm you're logged in as the actual Portal Owner rather than another user; and double-check that the CNAME entry itself is correctly configured and hasn't been mistyped.
