If you ever decide that an earlier design or piece of content on a webpage worked better than your current one, Zoho Sites makes it straightforward to go back. Every change made to a page is backed up automatically and stored as a separate version, so you can switch to an older version at any time with just a click.
Accessing and restoring a page version
- Open the Pages panel. Click the hamburger icon and select Pages.
- Locate the version icon. Each webpage listed has a version icon to its right. Click the icon for the page you want to restore.
- Open the Page versions list. On the next screen, use the dropdown menu at the top to view the available versions of that page.
- Filter the versions if needed. You can narrow the list to Published, User saved or Auto saved versions, or choose to view all of them together. Every version is shown with a date and time stamp along with the name of the user who made the change.
- Select the version you want. Choose the version you would like to switch to and click Restore.
- Confirm the restore. A confirmation dialogue will appear. Click Restore again once you are sure you want to switch back to that version.
Note: Because Zoho Sites saves versions automatically as you work, including auto saved drafts, it is worth checking the timestamp and the editor's name carefully before restoring, to make sure you are reverting to the intended version rather than a more recent auto save.
Why this matters
Version history removes the risk of losing earlier work when redesigning a page or testing new content. Rather than rebuilding a page from memory, you can compare and restore previous versions directly, which is particularly useful during ongoing website redesigns or when several people are editing the same site.
