If you cannot reply to tickets from the Zoho Desk mobile app, you are not alone. Plenty of users run into the same problem, particularly when the reply option appears to be missing or unresponsive. This article works through the likely causes and a clear path to resolving them.
Why replies can be missing on mobile
A common frustration is being unable to send a reply from the mobile app even though the same action works fine on desktop. The usual cause is a missing or incorrectly configured Support Email Address and From Address within the Zoho Desk portal. Without these in place, the mobile app cannot authenticate or route outgoing replies, and the reply fails silently.
This tends to show up most often when a Zoho Desk instance is first set up, or shortly after a system update, since the mobile app relies on specific metadata from the portal to enable the reply option. If the email configuration is missing or outdated, the reply option simply will not appear, even on an open, accessible ticket.
How to fix missing reply options
- Check the Support Email Address. Go to Setup, then Channel, then Email in your Zoho Desk dashboard, and confirm the Support Email Address field is populated. If it is empty, the mobile app has no valid sender and reply functionality stays disabled.
- Verify the From Address. This is the address that appears in the "From" field on outgoing replies. It needs to match the support email address or be a verified address within your domain.
- Refresh the mobile app's data. Once both fields are confirmed, open the mobile app, go to Settings, and select Refresh Portal Meta Data. This forces the app to sync with the latest configuration, including your email settings.
- Try replying again. Return to the ticket. The reply option should now be visible and working.
If the Support Email Address and From Address options are missing entirely
This usually points to a permissions or configuration gap rather than a bug. Work through the following:
- Confirm you are logged in as a Super Admin or a user with Setup Permissions, since these settings are restricted to elevated roles. If you are not, ask your organisation's admin to grant the necessary access.
- Check whether your instance uses a custom domain or subdomain. Email settings can fail to appear if the domain is not properly verified or routing is not yet configured. Verify this under Setup, General Settings, then Domain Management.
- If the options still do not appear after confirming permissions and domain setup, it may be a temporary sync delay. Wait a few minutes and refresh the page. If the problem persists, contact support with your organisation's ZGID (Zoho Global ID) and a screenshot of the setup page.
Keeping mobile replies working long-term
Small changes to your email infrastructure, such as domain updates, provider switches or security policy changes, can disrupt the mobile app's ability to send replies. A monthly check of the Email Channel settings is worthwhile. Confirm that the Support Email Address is active and correct, the From Address matches the intended sender, the domain is verified with routing functioning, and the mobile app has been refreshed after any configuration change. It is also worth encouraging the team to use Refresh Portal Meta Data whenever the mobile app behaves unexpectedly, since this often resolves sync issues without needing a reinstall.
