Zoho Campaigns 3.0: What Has Changed, Module by Module

What's Changed in Zoho Campaigns 3.0

Zoho Campaigns 3.0 works differently from the current version, which Zoho calls Zoho Campaigns 2.0, in most modules. This article covers the features that have changed, module by module. Everything listed here is still available, just in a new place or with new behaviour. Anything not listed is migrated in full and needs no attention. For the migration steps themselves, read Prerequisites for Migrating to Zoho Campaigns 3.0. Features that no longer exist are covered separately in What's Deprecated in Zoho Campaigns 3.0.

Source and update: this article is based on Zoho's "What's changed and what's deprecated in Zoho Campaigns 3.0" guide, updated on 16 October 2026 with clarifications Zoho gave us on inactive segments, contact scoring, and campaign types. Where the guide and Zoho's later answer differ, we follow the later answer.

Contacts

  • Segments. Segments that have been inactive for more than 120 days are marked Inactive, as Zoho has confirmed. A segment in that state cannot be used in a campaign until it is reactivated, so check your segment list early and reactivate the ones you still need in 3.0. The six-month figure in Zoho's separate prerequisites guide is superseded by this answer.
  • Contact tags. Tags are now managed and assigned on each contact's own details page. They can also be managed from More options on the Contacts page, under Manage Tags, depending on the role's privileges.
  • Campaign Activity scores. The scores that lived under Contacts, then Contact Scoring, are now under Channel Based Scoring in Settings, then Contacts and Customization.
  • Field-based scoring has been renamed Fit score and is migrated automatically. It appears on each contact's detail page, and you configure its rules under Fit Score in Settings, then Contacts and Customization, then Contact Scoring.
  • Contact scores. The full score on each contact is migrated, so contacts keep the number they have today rather than starting from zero. Zoho recommends using Decay score in 3.0 so the score reflects current interest rather than lifetime history.
  • Manage Topics has moved to Settings, under Contacts and Customization.

How each type of scoring migrates

Scoring type What happens
Engagement scoringExisting engagement scores migrate seamlessly.
Custom scoringRules with multiple conditions using AND or OR are not migrated. Rules with a single condition can be migrated.
Field-based scoringMigrates as Fit Score.
Campaign-based scoringDeprecated in the Email Campaigns module. Use the Response Action component to assign extra scores based on responses to specific campaigns.

Email campaigns

Zoho Campaigns 3.0 has two campaign types: Regular and RSS. Zoho has confirmed that the older advanced campaign types, such as Surveys, Webinars, Events, and Ecommerce, are no longer separate types. Those use cases are now handled inside a regular email campaign, using the relevant merge tags to insert survey links, event links, and other contextual information. You no longer choose the type up front, and you can combine several capabilities in one campaign. The Coupons and Forms campaign types are deprecated.

Before In 3.0
A/B Testing campaign typeA capability you switch on or off inside a Regular campaign, with variations on sender address, subject, or content.
Survey, Webinar, and Event campaign typesMerge tags added to a Regular campaign as a button, hyperlink, or other supported content. They appear only when the matching integration is enabled: Zoho Survey or SurveyMonkey for surveys, Zoho Meeting or GoToWebinar for webinars, and Zoho Backstage or Eventbrite for events. One campaign can carry all three.
Zoho Forms campaign typeA link added to the email content as a button or hyperlink. Zoho also lists the Forms campaign type as deprecated.
Ecommerce campaign typeA set of email template editor components. See the Ecommerce section below.
  • Finding these campaigns. Filter the campaign list by the component used. For example, filtering on the Survey component returns every campaign containing a survey, which is more reliable than remembering how each one was created.
  • Campaign-specific scoring is not migrated. Configure it again in 3.0 through Response Actions, set while configuring a campaign.
  • Header and footer configuration. Headers and footers now live in the email template editor as elements. Existing ones are migrated and available as bookmarks. To create one, add a Header or Footer element from Add Element, select the section, use the star icon to bookmark it, give it a name and a category such as Headers or Footers, then Save. Saved blocks appear under Gallery, in My Saved, and can be reused in as many campaigns as you like. Plain text and imported or uploaded content handle the header and footer in the campaign configuration instead.
  • Map to topic. The Map to topic checkbox behaves differently. The older version mapped only contacts with no topic at all. Version 3.0 maps every contact not already in the selected topic, including contacts who belong to other topics.
Alert: the new Map to topic behaviour widens who gets mapped. A contact who deliberately belongs to a different topic will now be added to the selected one as well, so check the topic selection before sending.

Workflows

Workflows built in the older version are migrated into the 3.0 Workflow builder. Conditional Workflows of the Activity-based type are also migrated as 3.0 Workflows. The remaining automation types are deprecated and open in the older version instead. To rebuild any of them as a 3.0 Workflow, Zoho publishes a guide to workflow equivalents that maps each component and automation type to its closest match in the new builder.

Ecommerce

The Ecommerce tab is removed. The functionality is not gone. It now appears in the modules where it is used:

  • Email campaigns. The email editor has Product and Product Recommendation components, available when a supported commerce integration is enabled: Shopify, WooCommerce, and Zoho Commerce.
  • Analytics. Email reports that use those components appear in Analytics.
  • Segments. Ecommerce fields become available in segments once the integration is in place.
  • Workflows. Abandoned cart and Purchase follow-up trigger components are available.

Settings

  • Imprint details. These move to Organisation Settings as additional fields, which you can edit or delete under General, then Organization.

What to check straight after migrating

  1. Segments marked Inactive that you still need.
  2. Topic selection on any campaign that uses Map to topic.
  3. Scoring: multi-condition custom rules and campaign-specific scoring need rebuilding, the latter through Response Actions.
  4. Where your imprint details now live, if your emails carry them.
