Where to Find and Configure Custom Buttons in Zoho CRM

Where are custom buttons?

Custom buttons let you configure a predefined set of actions that run with a single click, from calling a third-party app to running your own function, and place that button wherever it's actually useful in Zoho CRM.

Where to find them

  1. Open Modules and Fields. Go to Setup, then Customization, then Modules and Fields.
  2. Select your module. Choose the module you want to add a button to.
  3. Open the Buttons tab. Look for the Buttons tab, which now sits separately from Links, following a recent update that split what used to be a combined Links & Buttons tab into two distinct tabs.
  4. Create your button. Click Create New Button, name it, add a description, and choose your action type: an existing action from the gallery, your own custom function, invoking a URL, or opening a web tab.
Note: Custom buttons need the Customize Zoho CRM permission to create, and are available for every predefined and custom module except Activities. Access can be restricted by profile, so only the profiles you choose will see a given button. It's worth checking current edition availability directly in your account, since this and other customisation features have shifted between editions over time.

Where buttons can appear

Custom buttons aren't limited to a module's main list view. They can also be configured to appear on records, in Wizards, in Canvas layouts, on Related Lists, and, following a more recent enhancement, on records shared through Customer Portals, extending the same one-click convenience to portal users rather than only internal CRM users.
