This is a genuine, longstanding limitation rather than a setting you've missed. Task reminders in Zoho CRM don't behave the same way Event reminders do, and this gap has been reported by users for a considerable time without a definitive fix.
Why Tasks Behave Differently from Events
According to Zoho's own support, the underlying reason is structural: a Task doesn't have a specific time of occurrence the way an Event does. An Event is scheduled for an exact date and time, which gives the reminder system a precise moment to fire against. A Task only has a due date, without that same fixed time component, and reminder notifications for Tasks are consequently less reliable and less consistently delivered as a result.
What this looks like in practice: Users have reported daily task reminder emails simply stopping without explanation, and mobile push notifications for task and appointment reminders not arriving at all on iOS in particular, even when the reminder function itself doesn't appear to be exposed properly within the mobile app's interface. On the web, some users have found notifications arrive with a noticeable delay and without sound, rather than in real time.
What You Can Do
- Use Events instead of Tasks where a precise reminder genuinely matters. If you need a reliable time-based alert for something, scheduling it as an Event rather than a Task tends to produce more consistent reminder behaviour.
- Build a Workflow Rule as a backup. A workflow rule triggered by a Task's due date can send a notification email independently of the native reminder system, giving you a more predictable alternative.
- Check your device and app notification permissions. Since some of this is mobile OS-level, confirm the Zoho CRM app has notification permissions enabled at the device level, particularly on iOS, even though this won't resolve the underlying platform gap entirely.
If none of the above resolves it for your account, raising a support ticket with Zoho directly is worthwhile, since this has been an ongoing, actively reported issue rather than something with a single universal fix.
