Zoho CRM's Sandbox is an isolated replica of your live CRM environment, letting you test configurations, workflows, and customisations without any risk to your actual production data. Connecting Zoho Analytics to a Sandbox, rather than only your production CRM, lets you validate reporting changes safely before they ever touch live dashboards your team relies on.
Note on timing: Support for connecting third-party integrations, including Zoho Analytics, directly to a Sandbox environment is a genuinely recent addition to Zoho CRM. If you set up this integration some time ago and don't see the option, check your current CRM Sandbox settings, since this capability may not have been available when you first configured your Sandbox.
Why Test the Analytics Integration in a Sandbox
- Validate new custom fields or modules sync correctly into Zoho Analytics before rolling them out to production.

Setting Up a Sandbox
- In Zoho CRM, go to Setup, then Data Administration, then Sandbox.
- Click Create New Sandbox, name it, and add a description.
- Choose whether to bring across configurations only, or configurations alongside sample data or a subset of your live production data.
- Assign the users, typically admins or developers, who need access to the Sandbox.
Once created, your account shows two separate environments, Sandbox and Production, with a gold Sandbox label displayed while you're working inside it, so there's no ambiguity about which environment you're in.
Connecting Zoho Analytics to the Sandbox
The general connection mechanics mirror the standard Zoho CRM to Zoho Analytics integration: from your Zoho Analytics workspace, add a new data source, select Zoho CRM, and authenticate against your Sandbox environment specifically rather than production. Once connected, the same modules and fields sync across on your chosen schedule, letting you build and test reports exactly as you would against live data.
Rebuilding your Sandbox resets it: Rebuilding a Sandbox to match current production wipes out any Sandbox-specific changes and replaces them with the latest production settings. If you have an Analytics integration connected to that Sandbox, confirm whether a rebuild affects your existing sync configuration before doing so, so you're not caught out by having to reconnect the integration unexpectedly.
