A screenshot with a few annotations on it is often worth more than several paragraphs of description, especially when raising a support ticket. Zoho Annotator is a free browser extension built for exactly this, and it's worth having installed before you ever need it.
What it does
Zoho Annotator is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that lets you capture a screenshot or screen recording, then mark it up directly, before sharing it. Useful features include:
- Capturing a full page, a visible area, a specific section, or your whole desktop.
- Drawing shapes, freehand marks, and a highlighter pen to point out exactly what you mean.
- Adding numbered tags and contextual comments, so you can describe several points in one image.
- Blurring or smudging any sensitive or confidential information before sharing.
- Recording your screen, or recording a video with your webcam, where a still image isn't enough.
- Generating a shareable link, or uploading directly to Zoho WorkDrive, Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox.
Why it's worth using for support tickets
When you attach a clearly annotated screenshot to a ticket, whoever picks it up can see exactly what you saw, rather than trying to reconstruct it from a written description alone. This alone can shave a good chunk of back-and-forth off a ticket's resolution time.

Note: Screen and video recording via the extension aren't currently supported in Firefox, so use Chrome if you need those features specifically.
