Organisers who want a Zoho Backstage microsite to match their brand closely often ask whether they can add their own CSS, particularly to the page header. This article explains what Zoho Backstage supports for custom styling, and what to do if the controls in the visual page editor are not enough.
The issue
You want to style the header of your microsite in a way the visual page editor does not offer, and you are looking for a place to add custom CSS rules.
The answer
No open custom CSS editor: Zoho Backstage does not provide an open custom CSS editor within its standard visual page editor for microsites. If a style is not exposed as a control in the editor, you cannot override it by adding your own CSS there.
The scope of this answer is the standard visual page editor. Zoho's answer did not say whether any other area of Zoho Backstage accepts custom code, so we do not claim that it does or does not. Treat custom CSS as unavailable unless Zoho tells you otherwise.
What you can do instead
- Use the theme and colour controls. The overall look of the microsite, including accents such as the active tab highlight, is driven by the theme and the focal colour. See Zoho Backstage: Changing the Active Tab Highlight Colour on a Microsite.
- Work with the options the editor does expose. Review every header and page setting in the visual editor before concluding that a style cannot be changed, because some controls are easy to miss.
- Decide how exact the match needs to be. For many events, a close match on colour, logo, and imagery is enough, and the cost of anything beyond that may not be worth it.
- Ask us about other routes if a precise brand match is essential. We can look at what is achievable for your event, and we will tell you plainly where Zoho Backstage's limits are.
Planning around it
If a pixel-perfect brand match is a requirement, raise it before you commit to building your event site in Zoho Backstage, not after. Settling it early avoids a late redesign.
