Zoho Books Customer Record Attachment Limit Cannot Be Increased

Zoho Books: Customer Record Attachment Limit Cannot Currently Be Increased

Zoho Support has confirmed that the default limit of 10 file attachments on a Customer record in Zoho Books cannot currently be increased.

Note on sourcing: This is based on direct confirmation from Zoho Support rather than published documentation, so if this limit is important to your workflow, it's worth reconfirming directly with Zoho support at the time you need it, in case this changes in future.

What This Means in Practice

If you regularly attach a large number of documents to a single Customer record, such as signed contracts, ID verification documents, or historical correspondence, you'll eventually hit this cap with no option to raise it through settings or a support request.

Practical Workarounds

  • Attach documents to the relevant transaction instead. Rather than attaching everything to the Customer record itself, documents specific to a particular invoice, estimate, or sales order can be attached to that individual transaction, which has its own separate attachment allowance.
  • Store documents in Zoho WorkDrive and link to them. Keep the bulk of a customer's documents in a WorkDrive folder, and add a link to that folder within the Customer record's notes or a custom field, rather than uploading every file directly.
  • Periodically remove outdated attachments. If older documents are no longer needed for reference, removing them frees up space within the 10-file limit for newer, more relevant ones.
