Zoho Campus: A Suite for Schools and Colleges

Zoho Campus: A Suite for Schools and Colleges

Zoho Campus is a new suite aimed at schools and colleges. It brings communication, collaboration, and administration tools together in one place, so an institution does not have to stitch together separate products for email, chat, files, fees, admissions, and attendance records. Zoho describes every tool in it as coming with automation and Zia AI built in.

Check before recommending it in the UK or Ireland: Zoho's Campus page is written for institutions in India, and it states that customer data is hosted in data centres in India. The page does not mention UK or Ireland availability, data residency, or pricing beyond a free start, so confirm these with Zoho before suggesting Campus to a school here.

What it offers each group

Who What Campus gives them
AdministratorsA digital home in the cloud for the institution, so work is not scattered across personal accounts. One shared, accurate student record for every department. Tools for announcements, urgent messages, and formal email.
TeachersOne hub to organise, draft, and present lesson materials. Grammar checks and plagiarism detection to speed up grading, plus visibility of who views, shares, or downloads their work.
StudentsA well-organised digital classroom, instant access to third-party tools from inside the platform with no separate passwords, and dashboards for homework and upcoming deadlines.

Examples of the built-in automation and AI

  • Email. Zia drafts replies with Auto Complete and condenses long threads with Summarize.
  • Class channels. Each subject gets its own channel, so conversations about assignments, submissions, and announcements stay in one expected place.
  • Presentations. Type a topic and Zia builds the slides, images, and structure.
  • Team folders. Every class has a shared folder, so files do not disappear when a student graduates or a staff member moves on.
  • Certificates and letters. Subform Merge turns one template into a personalised document for every name on a list, which suits admission letters and certificates.
  • Single sign-on. An application is added once in Directory, and every member of staff signs in with the same credential.

What Zoho says sets it apart

  • No advertising, and no monetisation of customer data.
  • Encryption, two-factor authentication, and access controls that decide who sees what.
  • Data hosted in data centres in India.
  • Zoho runs the whole technology stack, giving one chain of accountability.
  • Zia AI features in every tool, with no separate licences to buy.
  • Privately held, with no venture capital and no public listing.

Where it came from

Zoho Schools has run for more than two decades, using a mixture of Zoho and other tools. A couple of years ago it decided to build one digital home for everything campus-related and acted as its own first customer, the company's "Customer Zero". Schools from outside Zoho later joined a first cohort of beta testers, whose requests included institutional email, classroom chat, and channels designed for a school rather than a business.

Getting started

Zoho says Campus is free to get started. Institutions can sign up on Zoho's Campus page or book a demo, and there are iOS and Android apps for managing records and catching up on announcements from a phone. Zoho's page does not describe paid plans, so ask Zoho for current pricing.
