Your product may come in different variants, such as size, colour, or another defining characteristic. In Zoho Commerce, these characteristics are called attributes, and each combination of attribute values creates a distinct variant of the product.
Once variants exist, you can enter the quantity of each individual variant separately, enabling proper inventory tracking down to the specific size or colour combination, rather than a single stock count for the whole product.
You can add products through Zoho Inventory instead, but adding them directly through Zoho Commerce lets you also set SEO details, such as an SEO title, keywords, and description, at the same time. It's also easier to display a product together with all its variants grouped as a single listing, rather than as separate, disconnected items.
If you're managing a large catalogue programmatically, the Zoho Commerce API supports creating a product together with its variants in one call, creating individual variants afterwards, listing all variants for your store, and updating a variant's rate or status. Each variant carries its own SKU, pricing, stock levels, and reorder level independently.
