Zoho CRM is sold across five editions: Free, Standard, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate. It is tempting to compare them purely by price, but the more useful way to think about them is structurally, since each tier is really built around a different level of process complexity rather than simply "more of everything".
The Edition Ladder at a Glance
- Free. Built for a very small team getting basic contact, lead, and deal tracking in place, with minimal automation.
- Standard. Introduces a proper sales process: scoring rules, simple workflow automation, and forecasting, aimed at a team that has outgrown a spreadsheet.
- Professional. Adds the commercial modules, such as Quotes, Sales Orders, and Purchase Orders, along with multiple pipelines and inventory-style stock handling.
- Enterprise. Where structural customisation really opens up, with custom modules, Blueprint process flows, advanced workflow actions, multi-currency, and a sandbox environment for testing changes safely.
- Ultimate. Aimed at organisations wanting deeper Zia AI capability, higher execution limits for functions and workflows, and more advanced business intelligence and analytics built into the CRM itself.
How Zoho One and Zoho CRM Plus Fit In
Neither Zoho One nor Zoho CRM Plus is a separate edition of Zoho CRM in its own right. Zoho One bundles Zoho CRM at a feature set that broadly lines up with the Enterprise edition, while Zoho CRM Plus is a customer experience bundle that pairs Zoho CRM with several other applications, such as Desk, Campaigns, and SalesIQ, under one licence. If you are only ever going to use the CRM application itself, it is worth checking whether a standalone edition actually suits you better than a bundle priced for the wider app set.
Choosing Structurally, Rather Than by Price
A more reliable way to pick an edition is to work backwards from what your process actually needs, rather than starting from the price list. A few questions worth asking:
- Do you need custom modules beyond the standard Leads, Contacts, Accounts, and Deals set? If so, you are looking at Enterprise or above.
- Do you sell in more than one currency, or need a sandbox to test changes before they reach live users? Both point to Enterprise or above.
- Do you need Quotes, Sales Orders, or Purchase Orders as part of your sales process? That generally means Professional or above.
- Is Zia AI, and specifically its more advanced forecasting or conversational features, central to how your sales team wants to work? That points towards Ultimate.
Note: The numeric limits attached to each edition, such as custom field counts, storage, and API request caps, are revised periodically by Zoho, so treat any specific figures as a snapshot rather than a permanent fact.
