Zoho CRM: Service Subform in Quotes & Invoices

Zoho CRM: Service Details Subform in Inventory Modules

Alert
Published: July 2026

What Is This Feature?

Zoho CRM now supports a Service Details subform within the Quotes, Sales Orders and Invoices modules. This allows service-based and mixed-model businesses to include service line items directly within their CRM transaction records, alongside existing product details.

This feature is available on Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions.

Why It Matters

Previously, Zoho CRM Inventory modules only supported product-based transactions. Service businesses had no native way to raise a Quote or Invoice that reflected service charges within the CRM. This update removes that restriction, enabling end-to-end quoting and invoicing for services from within Zoho CRM.

Prerequisites

Before you can use the Service Details subform, two steps must be completed by an administrator:

  1. Enable the Services module within Zoho CRM.
  2. Navigate to the module builder for each relevant Inventory module (Quotes, Sales Orders, Invoices) and toggle on the Service Details option.

Note: this feature does not apply to Purchase Orders, which remain product-only.

How the Subform Works

Once enabled, a Service subform appears in each Inventory module under the parent section Order Information, alongside the existing Product Details subform. The Order Total field automatically sums both grand totals and cannot be edited manually.

The Service subform includes two default Lookup fields:

  • Services — links to a record in the Services module.
  • Added As — an Appointment lookup that indicates whether the service is scheduled (booked appointment) or unscheduled (walk-in).

Configuring Mandatory Fields

Administrators can choose which subform(s) to make mandatory per module:

  1. Pure service (e.g., salon, consultancy): Service subform mandatory only.
  2. Product and service (e.g., equipment installer): Both subforms mandatory.
  3. Variable transactions: Custom setup where neither is mandatory, but at least one must be completed per record.

Converting Records

Service details carry forward when converting between Inventory modules. A Quote containing both Product Details and Service Details can be converted to an Invoice or Sales Order, and the new record will reflect both subforms automatically.

Important Notes

  • Services are not supported in Purchase Orders.
  • The titles of the Product Details and Service Details subforms cannot be edited.
  • The Order Total is calculated automatically and cannot be manually overridden.
  • Disabling the Services system subform will remove the Order Total field.
