Zoho has been building software since 1996, and as the company has grown from a handful of tools into a suite of more than 55 integrated business applications, plenty of individual products have been renamed, folded into newer platforms, or quietly retired along the way. If you have ever gone looking for a Zoho app you remember using a few years ago and found it has vanished or changed its name, this article maps out what actually happened and where things stand today.
Before any individual product was rebranded, the parent company was. Zoho started life in 1996 as AdventNet, a New Jersey-based network management software business. As the company's web applications, particularly its CRM and office tools, grew in popularity, AdventNet was formally renamed Zoho Corporation in 2009 to better reflect the direction the business had taken. The older ManageEngine and WebNMS brands are still used today, but as divisions within Zoho Corporation rather than separate companies.
These are cases where an older Zoho product still exists in spirit, just under a different name and usually with a substantially rebuilt feature set.
| Original product | Current name | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| Zoho Docs (launched 2008) | Zoho WorkDrive | WorkDrive launched in 2019 as a team-focused successor to the older personal storage tool. Zoho Docs was formally discontinued in November 2022, with customers migrated across to WorkDrive. |
| Zoho Chat | Zoho Cliq | Rebranded in September 2017 with audio and video calling, bots, and channel-based collaboration added on top of the original internal chat tool. |
| Orchestly | Zoho Qntrl | Relaunched under the Qntrl name in 2021 as a standalone workflow orchestration platform aimed at mid-market and enterprise customers, separate from the Zoho One bundle. |
| Zoho DB & Reports | Zoho Analytics | This one went through two names rather than one. The original database and reporting tool became Zoho Reports, then was renamed again to Zoho Analytics in November 2018 as its scope expanded into full business intelligence. |
| Zoho Support | Zoho Desk | Rebuilt and rebranded as Zoho Desk, now marketed as a context-aware, omnichannel help desk with Zia AI built in. |
| Zoho LiveDesk | Zoho SalesIQ | What began as a simple live chat widget was renamed SalesIQ as it grew into a visitor tracking and sales intelligence platform. |
| Zoho ContactManager | Bigin by Zoho CRM | ContactManager has been discontinued. Zoho positions Bigin, its pipeline-focused CRM for small teams, as the direct successor, and provides a migration path from ContactManager to Bigin. |
If you currently use Zoho ShowTime for webinars or online training, this is one to act on. ShowTime reached end of life on 31 December 2025 and Zoho has confirmed the service itself will be shut down on 30 May 2026. Zoho is directing existing ShowTime customers to migrate to TrainerCentral, its more advanced training platform, to avoid any interruption. If you have not already planned this migration, it is worth prioritising.
Zoho builds almost its entire stack in house rather than acquiring products from other companies, and it releases new tools frequently. Renaming or retiring a product is usually a sign that Zoho has decided a tool has outgrown its original scope (as with Reports becoming Analytics), that a newer, better-built replacement exists (Docs to WorkDrive), or that the older product no longer fits current customer needs (ShowTime to TrainerCentral). None of this is unique to Zoho, but the pace of change across such a large suite can make it hard to keep track without a reference like this one.
