Zoho VirtualOffice: What It Was and How It Became Zoho Workplace

Zoho VirtualOffice: A Historic Zoho Product

Zoho VirtualOffice is one of Zoho's original products, and understanding what it was helps explain how today's Zoho Workplace came to look the way it does.

What VirtualOffice Was

Launched in the mid-2000s, VirtualOffice was one of Zoho's original desktop and web collaboration suites. It brought email, shared calendars, task management, document sharing, instant messaging, and discussion forums together into a single browser-based workspace, at a time when combining all of that into one product was itself a fairly new idea.

What Happened to It

VirtualOffice was retired as a standalone product and evolved into what is today Zoho Workplace, a modern productivity suite built around Zoho Mail, Writer, Sheet, Show, WorkDrive, and Meeting.

The throughline: The core idea behind VirtualOffice, combining the tools a team needs into one connected workspace rather than a pile of separate logins, is exactly the idea Zoho Workplace still runs on today. What's changed is the depth and modernity of each individual piece, not the underlying concept.
