Before the new API Access for Zoho MCP and API Access for Zia Agents permissions reach your data centre, it's worth knowing whether they'll show up switched on or off, since that decides whether you need to act before or after rollout.
Existing Accounts
The default state for an existing profile depends on whether it already had general CRM API Access enabled:
- Profiles that already have CRM API Access enabled. Both new permissions are enabled by default when the rollout reaches you.
- Profiles that don't have CRM API Access enabled. Both new permissions are disabled by default.
Check this before rollout reaches you, not after. If a profile in your organisation already has API Access enabled, its users will automatically get MCP and Zia Agent API access too, with no announcement or separate opt-in. If that's not what you want for a given profile, review and disable it as soon as the permissions appear, since existing API access is inherited rather than requiring a fresh decision.
New Accounts
For an organisation setting up Zoho CRM from scratch, the defaults are simpler:
- Administrator profile. Both permissions are enabled by default.
- Every other profile. Both permissions are disabled by default.
Changing the Defaults
Either permission can be switched on or off at any time, for any profile, including the Administrator profile. The defaults above only describe the starting point; nothing is locked in place.
