Products are the heart of a Zoho Commerce store. You can add them in two ways: one at a time, or in bulk from a file. This article explains both, and the choices to think about before you start. It replaces an earlier note from March 2019 that only linked to Zoho's help.
Two ways to add products

| One at a time | A small range, or a new product you want to set up carefully. | The steps below. |
| In bulk, from a file | A large catalogue, or a move from another e-commerce platform. | Zoho Commerce: Importing Products from a File |
Adding a product by hand
- In your Zoho Commerce store, go to Products and choose to add a product.
- On the Add Product page, enter the product's details: its name, description, price, and images.
- If the product comes in different sizes, colours, or similar, click Add Attribute and list the values. A single product can have up to three attributes, and each combination becomes a variant.
- Enter the stock quantity. With variants, you can enter a quantity for each one separately.
- Set the SEO title, keywords, and description, so the product is easier to find in search.
- Save the product.
For variants in more detail, see Zoho Commerce: Product Attributes and Variants.
Menu names can vary. The exact labels depend on your version of Zoho Commerce. If something is not where this article says, use the search in the store settings, or ask us.
Add products in Commerce, or in Inventory?
You can add products through Zoho Inventory instead, but adding them directly in Zoho Commerce lets you set the SEO details at the same time. It also makes it easier to show a product with all its variants grouped as a single listing, rather than as separate items.
Before you add many: our advice
This section is our own advice, not Zoho's.
- Set up one product perfectly first, then copy its approach for the rest, so names, descriptions, and images are consistent.
- Write your own descriptions. Copying a supplier's text can hurt your search ranking, because many sellers use the same words.
- Add alt text to images, which helps visually impaired shoppers and search engines.
- Check prices and VAT before you publish, and that your store treats VAT the way you intend.
- Mind consumer information rules. Online sellers in the UK and Ireland have duties about what they must tell customers about products and prices. This is general guidance and not legal advice.
