Zoho Payroll UK for Bureaus: Bureau Version and Free Trial

Accountancy bureaus considering Zoho Payroll UK, which launched on 20 October 2026, tend to ask two things: will there be a bureau version that can be pushed to clients' Zoho Books, and will there be a free trial that can be run in parallel with an existing payroll system. This article gives Zoho's position on both as last stated. The launch announcement did not update either point.

Is There a Bureau Version?

A bureau version of Zoho Payroll is on Zoho's roadmap and was being analysed when Zoho last commented. Zoho has not announced a scope, a release date, or pricing for it.

Read "on the roadmap" carefully. Being analysed is not a commitment to build a bureau edition or to ship it by any particular date. If you are deciding whether to move client payrolls, plan around what Zoho Payroll UK offers today rather than on a bureau edition arriving.

Will There Be a Free Trial?

Before launch, Zoho said it would offer a trial so that the product can be explored. It has not stated how long the trial will run, what limits will apply, or exactly when it will start, and the launch announcement did not mention one. So do not promise a client a trial until that is confirmed. For a bureau, a trial matters because moving payroll mid tax year is a big step, and running a test payroll alongside your current system is the safest way to compare results before committing.

If you or your clients use Zoho One: Zoho's product team has said that for existing Zoho One users it will be happy to extend the trial period until the app is included in Zoho One, which it has said it plans to do. Zoho has not given a date, a trial length, or a way to apply, and it has not said that bureaus are covered. Contact us at zoho@1cloudconsultants.com for help requesting it. Cost and Fit: Points to Check

  • Pricing. Zoho Payroll UK has a single plan, billed annually or monthly, with the first five employees included and a per-employee charge above that. Work it through against each client's actual headcount, and compare it like for like with what you pay now, particularly for one-director payrolls. The figures are in Introducing Zoho Payroll UK.
  • Zoho Books. Zoho Payroll UK connects to Zoho Books and posts payroll journals after each pay run. Whether a bureau can manage many client organisations from one place has not been confirmed, and is presumably what a bureau edition would address.
